چکیده

We report experimental indications for a size-dependent change of the chemical nature of chemisorption on small atomic clusters. We studied chemisorption of atomic hydrogen on negatively charged Tin clusters using mass and photoelectron spectroscopy. Our experimental data support the assumption that for clusters with up to four Ti atoms, adsorption of intact H2 molecules is the energetically preferred configuration For larger Tin clusters with n.4, dissociative hydrogen chemisorption is the most stable configuration forming clusters with an electronic structure similar to bulk TiH2.

Hydrogen-induced transition from dissociative to molecular chemisorption of CO on vanadium clusters.

We report on the size-dependent interaction of carbon monoxide molecules with hydrogen covered vanadium clusters containing between 5 and 20 atoms. Structural information on these hydrogen covered vanadium clusters and their complexes with CO is obtained from infrared multiple photon dissociation spectroscopy, complemented with density functional theory calculations for the V5 to V9 cluster siz...

Reaction of tungsten anion clusters with molecular and atomic nitrogen

Ultraviolet photoelectron spectra for WnN2 2 (n51 – 8) clusters produced by addition of atomic and molecular nitrogen on W anion clusters are presented. Evidence is provided that molecular chemisorption of N2 is more stable than the dissociative one on tungsten anion clusters consisting of eight atoms or less, which is completely different from the results on tungsten bulk surfaces. A general t...

Hydrogen dissociative chemisorption and desorption on saturated subnano palladium clusters (Pdn, n = 2-9).

H2 sequential dissociative chemisorption on small palladium clusters was studied using density functional theory. The chosen clusters Pdn (n = 2-9) are of the lowest energy structures for each n. H2 dissociative chemisorption and subsequent H atom migration on the bare Pd clusters were found to be nearly barrierless. The dissociative chemisorption energy of H2 and the desorption energy of H ato...

Evolution of small copper clusters and dissociative chemisorption of hydrogen.

The structural evolution of small copper clusters of up to 15 atoms and the dissociative chemisorption of H2 on the minimum energy clusters are studied systematically using density functional theory. The preferred copper sites for chemisorption are identified and the transition state structures and activation barriers for clusters four to nine atoms are determined and found to be inconsistent w...

Non-Dissociative Gas Adsorption with Different Chemisorption Geometries on Nanoporous Surfaces

Isotherm equation is one of the important scientific bases for adsorbent selection. There are different isotherms that do not account for an adsorbate, different chemisorption geometries on the nanoporous surface. It is interesting to introduce a general isotherm, which considers different chemisorption geometries of an adsorbate on nanoporous surfaces. In this study, an isotherm for non-dissoci...
